God Made Me Do It

If God doesn't make you do good things, then how can Satan make you do bad ones?

Happyish

We pursue things that others have (jobs, families, possessions, etc.) to make us happy that are not making those people happy. So, is no one happy? Well, we can not compare happiness, because no one can truly understand how someone else is feeling. So, instead we compare circumstances. If my circumstances are better, I must be happier. That is our problem.

Celebrate America, Not Apathy

Apathy kills more Americans every year than heart disease. It causes people to avoid entering into relationships out of fear. Staying in bad relationships out of fear. Don't sit still. Enjoy your America Day. Be Free.

Smart is Evil

There's a recent trend with some white-collar businesses who are installing really nice kitchens and break rooms in their offices with giant plasma TVs. I was talking with one of my friends about that, and his reply was, "yeah, that's awesome, my workplace sucks." Then I explained that the reason for these businesses doing these things is that the business wants to make their employees feel as comfortable as they can at the office so they don't feel like they have to run out the door at 5 sharp. Maybe they'll take a break, make some dinner, watch some TV, and then get a couple more hours of work done. His reply, "That's evil." I guess it would be evil if the employees were slaves. But, the business is trying to figure out a mutually-beneficial partnership that allows the worker to enjoy his job more while getting more value out of the worker at the same time. Nothing is coerced. Both sides like the results. How can that be evil?

Why Would You Take a Lie Detector Test?

If Hitler passed, would he be innocent? O.J.? All a lie detector test does is slightly sway public opinion if they haven't really made up their minds yet, which they always have.

White Pines Union Club

Unions are typically thought of as fighting for the rights of the little guy, right? But, don't they often end up being privileged institutions instead? For example, the benefits are better for those WITHIN the union. But, there's a limited membership, just by the nature of competition and the fact that unions raise benefits. So, the existence of the union actually increases the chance of a laborer NOT getting a job. That sounds more like the country club premise the union was built to suppress?

I’m Thinking of a Number Between…

If you could choose your own federal tax % rate, what would it be? If you choose zero, and still believe in the federal funding of public services, does that make you immoral?

Sanitation for My Sanity

Do you really care when people don't wash their hands after they use the bathroom, or does it only upset you when you have to see the transgression? Because, intellectually, I know there are loads of germs and disgusting stuff everywhere. But, when someone walks out of the restroom when I'm in there without even feigning an effort, I just don't understand it. Even if you don't want to make it a habit. Please give people like me the benefit of the doubt. Just a quick rinse. We need to pretend the world is clean. Oh, and this has happened REPEATEDLY at my workplace. And I'm never able to look at the person the same way again.
